Barracuda
I look over my shoulder, watching you work the socket wrench under the hood of your 70’ Plymouth Barracuda. I watched you intently from my porch, swaying back and forth in my washed rocking chair. You glanced my way, setting my insides on fire. Your smile and give a short wave, making my cheeks burn red. I wave back, smiling. I put my hand over my eyebrows, blocking the sun to get a better view of the way your skin glistened from the sweat that is dripping down your body. You wipe your brow, sliding under the car. I watch your shirt reach up revealing your bear like stomach. I crossed my legs, squeezing them together. I took a sip of my lemonade, returning to my book. You were the distraction I wanted to fantasize about, not some Harlequin novelist's idea of a good fuck. I pictured you pinning me against my house and fucking me right then and there. I daydreamed about us, making love under the stars or in front of a fire. Then again, that is what Harlequin novel instills. But I have known you my whole life, we have lived next to each other since grade school. You, Alec McCarthy, were the first boy I ever fell in love with, from afar of course. Now, here we are in our mid-thirties living on our families' farms in Erwin, Tennessee and I still have not worked up the courage to even have a conversation with you. Every day for the last few years, I come out in the morning and pretend to read, waiting for you to wave and smile at me. Today’s the day. Yes, today! I stand up, walking down the old wooden steps on my porch, kicking my boots in the rocks as I make my way towards you. You slide from under the car, sitting up on the mechanic creeper and standing up, using the rag to wipe some sweat from your beard. I approached you, smiling again.
“Good morning, Veronica, did you need
something?” He asked, wiping his hands on the towel.
“Oh, no, Alec I was just bored and
thought I’d come say hi.” My voice squeaked a little and I blushed again. He
smiled, leaning over the frame, and getting back to work.
“Oh, well that’s curious.” He said, tightening
a bolt with his socket wrench again.
“What’s curious?”
“In the thirty-five years I have lived in
this house, I do not think we have talked once.” I blushed again, tucking a
strawberry blonde curl behind my ear.
“Well...I... I thought it would be a good
time to start talking.” He smiled up at me as I kicked my boot around in the
gravel.
“Yeah, I would have to agree. Do you want
to go for a ride when I am done?” He asked, wiping his hands on the towel
again.
“I would love to go for a ride.” I say,
trying hide my excitement.
“Great, meet me here at eight?” I nodded.
He got back to work, and I said I would see him later, turning on my heel and
walking back towards the house. I felt my mind start to go a hundred miles an
hour, trying not to let my excitement out until I got into my house. The screen
door slammed behind me, and I started dancing and jigging in my kitchen. My
Nana came around the corner, giggling softly.
“Did you finally go talk to him?” She
asked, sitting at the table. I felt my cheeks blister in an instant. I tried
catching my breath, sitting next to Nana.
“Yes, we are going for a ride in that car
he’s fixing up today.” I smile, unable to contain my delight.
“Well, that’s marvelous sweetheart! I am
sure, everything is going to work out!” She said encouragingly. I nod, kissing
her wrinkled cheek and darted from my chair to the stairs. Momma and Daddy left
months ago to a conference in Tacoma, but we had not heard from them. I think,
deep down, I knew they were not coming back. The farm, it was a lot of work and
very time consuming, but I knew I was not going to leave all the work for Nana.
I plopped down on my bed, staring at the ceiling, letting my daydreams take
over.
He sauntered over from the bathroom, his
hair-covered chest dripping wet from the shower. He smiled at me as I lay on
the bed, waiting for him to ravish me. He smirked, letting his towel drop to
the floor. I gawked, feeling a pang in my lady parts. He walked over to the
closet, grabbing sweatpants and a white tee. I continued to gawk, watching his
tone ass walking across the room. He was tall and strong. His stomach showed a
light outline of abs and a deep v in his hips. While his biceps and chest
bulged with muscle and definition. I licked my lips as he turned around again,
his almost amber eyes staring back at me.
“Are you ready?” He said in a whisper. I
nodded my head as he made his way towards me. He climbed into the bed, finding
my lips promptly. His tongue found mine, swirling and suckling. My hand
wandered over his broad shoulders, intertwining in the hair on the nape of his
neck. He pushed me back into the bed, leaving my lips and finding my neck. I
moan softly as he kisses lightly down my body, finding his way to my vex.
My daydream is broken
by the sound of yelling. I hurriedly walk to the window, noticing Alec’s father
pacing back and forth, loudly yelling something to Alec. Alec throws the towel
he had been using to the ground, getting in his father’s face. His father took
a step back, looking defeated. I wonder what that was about. I walked
away from the window. I hoped whatever it was would not hinder our “ride”
later.
After what seemed like hours of rummaging
through my closet for something to wear. I settled on a long dress and flats. I
always wore jeans and a flannel. I wanted him to think I was a girl. I spun in
the long mirror against my closet door, loving the off-white dress. It taped in
around my waist, flowing beautifully around my legs. I ran down the stairs and
Nana was asleep in her rocker in the living room. I decided to leave her there
and if she was still there when I got home; I would move her. I stepped down
the old wooden stairs, making my way to the McCarthy’s driveway. I caught a
glimpse of Alec leaning against the car, running a hand through his hair. I
came up the clearing and he turned around, smiling widely as I approached. He
was wearing long khakis with old penny loafers. His hair was slicked back, and
his white button-down shirt was neatly tucked into his pants.
“Hey.” He said, his amber eyes looking me
up and down. “You look beautiful.” He said, blushing slightly.
“Thank you.” I say, my cheeks burning. He
came around the car, opening the passenger door as I slipped in. He carefully
shut the door, jogging to his side of the car. He turned the key and the engine
roared to life. He turned looking back as he pulled the car in reverse. He
backed down his driveway, curving it onto the street. He pulled it in drive,
and we were off down the road.
We drove for a while and finally he pulled
off into a clearing on the road. It was a great view of the mountains, the
stars cascading the sky. I smiled as he got out of the car, jogging around to
the passenger side and opening my door. I stepped out, thanking him softly for
opening the door. He shut the door, grabbing my hand, and leading me toward the
edge of the clearing. The mountain dropped off and there was a beautiful stream
flowing through.
“This is beautiful.” I say, enjoying
the stillness of air. The crickets chirped, creating a hum amongst nature.
“I
thought you may appreciate the scenery.” He said, stepping closer to me. I
looked up at him, taking in his almond eyes. He leaned closer, our lips
hoovering over each other's; inches apart. Our breath joined together, and our
lips brushed against each other. My body reacted quicker than my mind as I
pushed my lips forcefully on his. He ran his hand up my arm to my neck,
pressing his lips into mine. He wrapped his arms around my body, pulling me
closer as his tongue slipped past my lips. I moaned into his mouth, my heart
starting to race. He pulls back, looking at me again.
“I am
sorry, that is not why I brought you hear.” He said, pulling back further. I
groaned internally, wanting so bad for him to rip this dress off my creamy
skin. I wanted him to kiss my entire body and put his tongue in places that
would make my Nana blush.
“Would
it be wrong me to say I did not want you to stop?” I ask, wrapping my arms
around his long torso. He gave a soft smile, tucking a strand behind my ear. He
leaned again, his lips barely touching mine.
“You
could not handle everything I want to do to you.” He said, kissing my lips
quickly and pulling back. I flushed heavily at his naughty words, feeling my
body heat up. “Plus, we’ve got time. No need to rush the process.” He smiled
softly and I grumbled lowly. Yes, we do have time, but I don’t know how much
more I can wait.
“You are
right, Alec.” I smile, pulling him in for another kiss. My body molding into
his like melting chocolate. I surely could not wait for Alec to show me what I
could not handle.
